El presidente de Estados Unidos tomó la inusual medida de revertir el perdón anunciado el día anterior a un inversionista inmobiliario de Nueva York.
Isaac Robert Toussie, condenado por fraude postal y hacer declaraciones falsas a una agencia gubernamental, era una de las 19 personas a las que el mandatario había incluido en los tradicionales indultos navideños.
Pero al día siguiente, la Casa Blanca anunció que el presidente había revisado la decisión a la luz de nueva información recibida sobre Toussie.
Esto incluía detalles sobre los delitos que cometió, así como sobre las donaciones hechas por su padre al Partido Republicano.
Dana Perino, la portavoz de la Casa Blanca, dijo que una vez conocida la información, la revocatoria del perdón era "lo más prudente que podía hacerse".

La marcha atrás de Bush con el indulto de Isaac Toussie llegó tras un informe del periódico New York Daily News que revelaba que su padre, Robert Toussie, había donado US$28.500 al Comité Nacional Republicano en abril pasado.
El medio neoyorkino también publicó que Toussie había sido acusado de defraudar a gente de bajos recursos, vendiéndoles casas de mala calidad a precios inflados y con costos adicionales ocultos.
Toussie se declaró culpable en 2001 de los cargos de fraude postal y hacer declaraciones falsas al Departamento de Vivienda y Desarrollo Urbano.
Fue sentenciado en 2003 a cinco meses de prisión, otros cinco de detención domiciliaria y tres años de libertad vigilada.
Durante su mandato, Bush ha otorgado muchos menos perdones que sus antecesores Bill Clinton y Ronald Reagan.
