Santo Domingo.- El presidente Leonel Fernández, inició ayer en San Pedro de Macorís lo que definió como “diálogos populares y encuentros democráticos” con representantes de las fuerzas vivas de la nación, en procura de escuchar sus reclamos y proponer soluciones a los problemas sociales del país. De inmediato dispuso la entrega de 36 millones de pesos para que el Instituto Nacional de Aguas Potables y Alcantarillados (Inapa), construya la red de tuberías para los barrios de este municipio cabecera que no reciben agua.El mandatario argumentó que otros de los objetivos que se persiguen están prestarle más atención a las demandas sociales y resolver sus males del día a día, ya que reconoció que resulta muy difícil no tener empleos ni alimentos. Asimismo, el mandatario anunció la repavimentación de las calles de los diferentes barrios, obra demandada en el encuentro y que será ejecutada por la Secretaría de Estado de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones. También ordenó al Consejo Estatal del Azúcar la elaboración de un programa tendente a crear mil empleos en las comunidades de Quisqueya y Consuelo, concomitantemente a las iniciativas que lleva a cabo esa entidad oficial. Para que los residentes en esta demarcación tengan su alimentación segura, el gobernante dispuso que tanto los Comedores Económicos, el Instituto Nacional de Estabilización de Precios y el Plan Social de la Presidencia ejecuten programas de entregas de canastas con productos de la canasta familiar. Adelantó que Inespre instalará un supermercado popular donde se venderán rubros de consumo masivo a precios bajos, y se crearán además, veinte empleos directos. El presidente Fernández significó que igualmente la Dirección de los Comedores Económicos construirá un nuevo comedor fijo en la ciudad macorisana, así como varios móviles en las zonas más empobrecidas de la provincia. El mandatario definió como “promisorio” el futuro a mediano y largo plazo de la Sultana del Este, al indicar que en materia de turismo se construye un proyecto inmobiliario que generará más de 15 mil empleos directos e indirectos. En ese orden, señaló que la Zona Franca Industrial de San Pedro de Macorís volverá a renacer tan pronto repunte la economía de los Estados Unidos, mientras que la industria cañera florecerá nuevamente con los proyectos de producción de etanol que se levantan en la provincia. El encuentro que encabezó el presidente Leonel Fernández tuvo lugar en el barrio México, en la calle Puerto Rico, donde expusieron el obispo de la Diócesis de San Pedro de Macorís, monseñor Francisco Ozoria; por la Confraternidad de Iglesias, el reverendo Sebastián Lora; por la Iglesia Episcopal, Augusto Sandino, y por la Asociación de Juntas de Vecinos, Franklin Cuevas, y el gobernador civil, Alcibíades Tavares. La decisión del presidente Leonel Fernández surge horas después de que un grupo de activistas sociales y comunitarios de la región Este decidiera dar un compás de espera de dos semanas al gobierno, para que solucione los problemas de carreteras, calles, alcantarillados y acueductos en la zona.
