Miércoles 30 de Septiembre de 2009 MAIMÓN:-La escuela primaria de este distrito municipal está siendo asediada por grupos de jóvenes que de la “noche a la mañana” han formado bandas de antisociales para controlar esta comunidad de Puerto Plata. Los residentes en Maimón afirmaron que esos grupos delictivos mantienen bajo constante asedio la escuela pública de aquí. Esta situación ha provocado que habitantes en las proximidades de la escuela "Anacaona" hayan recurrido a las autoridades educativas en Puerto Plata con el propósito de que se evite que esas pandillas juveniles no obstaculicen el desarrollo de la enseñanza en este distrito municipal. Denunciaron que hace una semana se originó en la cercanía de dicha escuela un enfrentamiento entre grupos de jóvenes que se disputan el control de la zona, lo que provocó un gran pánico entre profesores y estudiantes, los cuales tuvieron que guarecerse en el interior de la misma para no ser afectados por esa situación. Manifestaron su preocupación por la forma agresiva en que reaccionó un grupo de mozalbetes de ese lugar, quienes fueron impedidos de penetrar a la escuela “Anacaona”, porque no están inscritos ni reciben docencia en el centro escolar. Incluso, el director de esta escuela, profesor Domingo Melo, fue agredido por los delincuentes juveniles, lo que provocó que muchos padres de estudiantes que reciben docencia en el centro público optaran por retirar sus vástagos hacia sus hogares de manera inmediata. El permanente asedio que mantienen el grupo de mozalbetes, los cuales se dedican al tráfico y consumo de drogas en Maimón ha puesto de manifiesto que su principal objetivo es mantener el control sobre la escuela Anacaona, ya que en sus alrededores estos mantienen puntos de mercadeos de drogas. ptoptadigital.com
